The role of an SEO copywriter is one that is growing in popularity in search engine optimisation (SEO). This role demands much more than just being a writer; it also demands an understanding of how search engines read and use text on a website. Not only is it enough to have a truly good understanding of English spelling and grammar, but the SEO Content Editor / Copywriter needs to learn to tailor your writing to ensure it suits both the user and the search engine. Writing for the web is a far cry from writing for the print industry.
Originally, SEO companies could rely on just the internet and their own website to generate their leads however, as it is now such a highly competitive industry this is no longer enough and so SEO sales jobs are increasingly required to generate leads, create proposals and to answer any potential clients’ questions.
To sell SEO, the SEO sales executive has to be reasonably technically minded to understand and explain the concepts without using jargon. Many potential clients have already suffered poor service and burnt fingers in this industry and so they demand a reasonable level of detail to know that they are dealing with an ethical SEO company who will work with them to achieve a return on their investment. Therefore, although working SEO sales means you need to be competitive and show tenacity, you also need to be sensible and measured to avoid making promises we can’t keep.
SEO Client / Account Manager
SEO clients need to know there’s someone at their internet marketing company who they can speak to when they need to and the SEO Client / Account Manager is this person. An SEO Client / Account Manager will need to be technically minded to a degree, as you will be the central point of contact for the client, the developers, the editor / writers and any third parties. To be a great Client Account Manager in SEO and internet marketing, the Account Manager needs to be able to convey sometimes technical points in a non-jargon manner, be organised and provide monthly reports, meeting with clients where necessary.
SEO Programmer / Web Developer
A great designer, who is also able to design a website with internet marketing in mind is a rare gem. Internet marketing from the web design perspective involves usability and search engine optimisation, as well as creative flair.
